Monday JV Football

The La Conner Braves faced off with the Lummi High School Blackhawks in a Junior Varsity match that pleased the fans on both sides. The final score was 24 Braves, 28 Lummi.
The Braves were running like a well-tuned blue machine. Two times the Braves denied Lummi the extra points after scores.
Lummi made some made some excellent plays, but the Braves kept the pressure on until the final seconds of the game.

Saturday football

The game was actually a lot closer than it appeared on the scoreboard Saturday night when the La Conner Braves faced off against the defending state champs, the Adna Pirates.
Despite the Pirate's 23-0 win, the Braves gave the fans in blue lots to cheer about. The Braves played what appeared to be their best game so far this season with the defense keeping the Pirates away from the goal line time after time.

Soccer girls beat Vikings

Despite the rain, the La Conner Lady Braves beat the Orcas Island Vikings 2-1 today.

 Murder Victim - Teagan, a 9-year-old wire-haired dachshund was viciously mauled to death in his own front yard in Shelter Bay. Unsupervised domestic dogs are suspected to be the culprits.

Like he did every evening at bedtime, little Teagan, a 9-year-old miniature wire-haired dachshund ran outside to relieve himself. He was always finished and back inside in moments. But on Saturday, Sept. 4, about 5 minutes had passed, when the dog's owners went outside looking for him. right there in the yard of their Shelter Bay home, Rebecca and Gil Bolstad found their little dog's lifeless body.

Rainbow Bridge ageing gracefully - Alexander Kramer

For being more than two-thirds of the way through its projected lifespan, Rainbow Bridge is showing signs of age, but engineers say it should last for many more years. In April, a crew of state and county inspectors caused traffic delays as the bridge was examined inch by inch. In Washington, the state tries to inspect bridges about every two years. By the end of this year, the state expects to complete inspections on 1,960 bridges. Inspectors look at the integrity of every bridge component--the concrete, paint, and every bolt.

Tailgate party Saturday

The La Conner High School Booster Club will serve its annual tailgate party supper on Saturday, Sept. 18, before the Braves football team faces off against Adna Pirates. Game time is 6 p.m. at La Conner stadium. But get there early to have barbecue beef sandwiches with Caesar salad, corn on the cob, chips and a brownie. The Boosters will start serving at 4 p.m. the price is $7 for adults, and $5 for students, and the food usually goes fast.

La Conner Braves vs. 

Nooksack Pioneers:

The Braves traveled to Nooksack to take on the Pioneers. They fought hard until the last seconds of the game but fell to the Pioneers in a crushing defeat, 63-0. 

During the first half of the game, while making an explosive run toward the goal line, a Nooksack player suffered a very serious leg injury, which brought both teams to their knees and hushed the crowd. The injured player was rolled off the field, and the Pioneers picked up where they left off and continued trouncing the Braves.
