Feature Writer Sue Phillips brings us the heartwarming story of a plush horse, a little girl named Maizie Chapin and generosity going full circle. See it in today's paper.

Man found with gunshot wound
A 27-year-old Friday Harbor man was found near Snee Oosh beach at about 4:40 a.m. on Monday suffering from a bullet wound.
The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of a gunshot wound to the torso. Authorities have not released his name and there are no suspects so far.
Emergency Radios
La Conner Town Hall is now an Emergency Operations Center, with a new bank of emergency radios that will keep the town's communications running in the event of a disaster or other crisis. La Conner is now one of 25 communication base stations in a five-county area. The town is equipped with three public safety radios and one ham radio.
Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., ham radio volunteers check all the radios in the area to make sure communications are working properly. This week, Barrie Arnett and Loren Wohlgemuth checked the town's radio.

 From the Police Blotter:
5:44 p.m.: Hit and run – A resident of Myrtle Street in La Conner returned home from a trip to Costco in Burlington then requested that a deputy come to their home to take a report of a hit and run that had occurred 45 minutes earlier in the Costco parking lot.

Pick up the paper at the gas station, drug store, liquor store, produce market,  book store and in news stands all over town.
